Introducing Japhy
Born July 31, 2016
Born July 31, 2016
Named Japhy after a good friend of mine Japhy was the first puppy born in this litter. Japhy knows her
name and it is so cute to watch her because sometimes when you call her she gets this look in her eye of
shear delight and she barks at you as if to say, "Huuuuuman you called, here I come get ready"
as she races over to you as fast as her little legs will carry her.
Japhy is the most vocal puppy of the litter (go figure she is the female). Japhy will let you know when
she wants something and she will bark at all the other dogs trying to get them to play. She will also do
her funny puppy bum wiggle dance with her paws and head down on the ground her butt in the air
with tail wagging fiercely as she tries to get your attention to play with her.
Japhy is well socialized and is equally comfortable being in the kitchen while food is being made, hearing
the loud noises the GO train makes when it passes by in the background, greeting anyone that comes
into the house or rolling over for a tummy rub to wrestling and romping around with the other dogs.
Japhy loves playing with her brother Jacob and she never backs away from a puppy tumble play
session. She loves pinning her brother down and making puppy play growling noises and
acting like she is a fierce puppy warrior while she is on top of him.
Japhy loves to go outside where she runs around bouncing and playing with anyone that she can
entice to play with her. Japhy is not afraid to doggie rumble with the other dogs and in fact
she often initiates the play session and will take on all the adults at one time. The adult dogs
mostly look at her like ..... are you serious you little punk, but they oblige her and gang up
on her and gently play with her.
Japhy is the tenacious puppy of the litter and once she gets her mind on something (like munching
on your hair or giving you a zillion puppy kisses) it is hard to get her unfocused and onto something
else, and she keeps coming back for more of what has caught her attention. She can be
derailed with a belly rub or head scratch........ sometimes!!!
We free feed all of our dogs in the kitchen and Japhy will wander in and out of the kitchen to eat
and drink whenever she wants to. It is quite normal for dogs to bring a piece of their food into another
room (the one you are in usually) to eat it and go back for more bringing more into the room again
so don't be surprised if she does this.
All of our dogs have been trained to eliminate on pee pads inside the house as well as using
the potty outside. We train our dogs to eliminate both ways because this allows them flexibility in
the type of home that will be able to adopt them. Being trained both ways allows our puppies to
be adopted by loving families that live in an apartment without outside potty access or for a
home that has access to a outside potty.
Japhy is very comfortable going outside to do her business as well as using the pee pads
inside the house. Japhy has started to ask (whine and/or sit at the door) to be let
out and will run outside soon as the door is opened.
If you want Japhy to do her business outside only you will need to train her to your preference. She
will need frequent visits outside until she understands that is the ONLY place you will be allowing her
to do her business. Japhy's potty training is not complete and she will require your attention
and diligence to help her learn where it is you want her to do her business.
One of the reasons we keep our puppies till they are 12 weeks old rather than selling them at 8 weeks
old is so when they come to you they are pretty much past the biting stage. With that said Jacob is still a
young puppy and we have been training him not to bite but all puppies bite especially at younger
ages. We have a gentle correction method we use (and will teach you) to discourage biting
that really works and that puppies learn quickly.
Japhy has been allowed to sleep with us in our bed since she was 8 weeks old so ultimately
we are looking for a home that would allow her to continue this. At bedtime she is all over you trying
to smother you with doggie kisses and ear nibbles. You might have to fight her for your pillow because
she loves sleeping on top of your head or right beside it. Sometimes Japhy takes a little while to settle
because she is wants to play with you and give you all her love and she has a lot of love to give!!
Japhy is a wonderful puppy that is full of spunk and fearless at the same time. She is a true delight and
we find ourselves laughing at her silly antics and enjoy her immensely. Japhy is very affectionate and
loves to cuddle, we know she will bring her new family much joy and happiness.
