Table Scraps are Off Limit
At CavalierKingCharlesSpanielDogs.com we are big advocates on never feeding your dog table
scraps or feeding your dog when you are eating. We know it is hard to resist they put on the charm
and give you that look of "Oh please please please, I will be your bestest friend even more
than I already am if you give me that treat and you really really really do want to
give me that treat ..... don't you?
It is really important as a Cavalier owner to realize that feeding dogs people food is not good for
our dogs and it can cause them all sorts problems. We also need to learn to steel our

Aside from the fact that you don't want to teach your Cavalier to beg, 'human food' is often not a healthy choice for a dog. Our food is frequently too high in calories and fat, may not be easily digestible by your dog, and may even be harmful (e.g. chocolate, grapes, raisins, and more). |

Even if you wish to feed your dog a snack while you're at the dinner table (which we don't recommend), choose a healthy dog biscuit designed for a dog's nutritional needs or a small piece of fresh fruit or vegetable. Try green beans, carrots and even watermelon! |

To avoid teaching your Cavalier King Charles the bad habit of begging from the table, take a few small pieces and put it in his regular dinner bowl, rather than feeding him by hand tableside. |
Personally think it is annoying if we go to a friends for dinner and they feed their dogs while we
are sitting down to enjoy our meal. The dog continually sits or stands up begging and touching
you through the entire meal trying to get you to feed it... Don't do it or you will be that friend!
